Pathology is at the heart of all the NHS does. Taking and testing samples - and reporting results - is only part of the story. Advice on which are the right tests and on how to interpret complex results contributes a lot to the care offered to patients. The demand for testing is forecast to rise. And the increasing emphasis on Public Health is likely to create opportunities for Pathology Services to ‘emerge’ from the laboratory as Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) seek to provide more services and care closer to the home.
Through World Class Commissioning, PCTs will also increasingly focus on how they manage the local healthcare market and their relationship with the providers that serve it. Pathology Services need to be alive to the opportunities and threats that this poses. They should be looking to review the quality, efficiency, effectiveness and cost of their operations.
We have extensive experience of working with Pathology Services at both a national and local level. Follow the links below for some examples of our work.
